PROVO TABERNACLE FIRE

OK, they think they know what caused the fire at the Provo Tabernacle last Saturday.

A Temporary Light Fixture

So, a 300 watt light was placed too close to a wooden speaker enclosure, it got too hot and the rest is horror. Well, actually the horror includes the watchman coming in to the tabernacle several times to check on the fire alarm that was going off for over an hour and leaving without looking for or finding a fire which was brewing in the attic or upstairs or somewhere. Is that disgusting or what? You lose this fabulous building because some, I want to say something like idiot here, but some person left this light on and placed it too close to a wood cabinet. Again I would like to use the word idiot, but I won't, but some person thought he knew better than an electronic heat sensing device and let the place to burn down. So actually it wasn't a temporary light fixture that burned this incredible building down, it was two brainless, lazy, bipedal, idiots.

Mike Theodosis

Mike is one of the greatest people I know. He loved his life, he adored Sally, he was nuts for his kids, he liked everyone, he forgave everyone, he held no malice for anyone. He filled his heart and his thoughts with happiness, kindness, and love. You could say he was without guile.

Mike was just such a kind, nice, loving person. He was a darling little boy, a terrific teenager, a hard working dedicated man, a loving, thoughtful husband, father, and friend. He was smart, adventuresome, curious, sneaky, fun, inventive, and so full of energy and intrigue. Oh, and don't forget about mischief. What a mischievous guy!

Who could not like Mike Theodosis? He liked everybody and everybody liked him right back.

There are people in your life that are so hooked to your heart that you could go years without seeing them but the love, affection, connection with them remains. That's how it was for me with Mike. I could see Mike after any number of years and there would be no get reacquainted time. Our connection was still there. Great pal, super friend, not a moment seemed to have past. Mike is a brother who makes you smile and breathe a little deeper when you think of him. You may even laugh right out loud remembering him tell about the kite he and Jim stomped to death on the bus in NY, or think of hearing him say "frog legs" with a Texas drawl. What a guy!

Everybody loved Mike. I know I surely do. I am so lucky he is in my life.

BEAUTIFUL UTAH

My pal Dawn Wheeler took this. WOW!!

MARK ZUCKERBERG CAME TO BYU YESTERDAY

MARK ZUCKERBERG WAS A BIG HIT. HE WORE HIS SIGNATURE HOODIE SWEATSHIRT.

HIS ADVICE TO STUDENTS WAS TO FIND SOMETHING YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT AND PUT YOUR ENERGY ON THAT.

EVERYBODY WANTED HIS PICTURE.

ORREN HATCH ASKED HIM WHAT ADVICE HE COULD GIVE TO STUDENTS ABOUT SCHOOL AND WHAT CLASSES THEY MIGHT TAKE.

ZUCKERBERG ANSWERED THAT HE HADN'T STAYED IN SCHOOL VERY LONG SO HE WASN'T THE RIGHT PERSON TO ANSWER SUCH A QUESTION.

HE DROPPED OUT OF HARVARD AFTER HIS SOPHOMORE YEAR TO BECOME A MULTIBILLIONAIRE.

Viaduct May Not Withstand Earthquake

We have a viaduct at 500 South University Avenue in Provo that is unlikely to be able to withstand an earthquake. There was an article in the news today about this, with pictures.
They showed a lot of pictures of damage on the bridge. These are some of their pictures.
I'm going "No Duh". It may fall down without an earthquake.
Turns out this ain't my bridge. My bridge looks like this from the top and from the bottom but this one is in SLC.
Now I'm just wondering, how many falling down viaducts are there in Utah? Do they all look just the same?

That winning sure looks like a lot of fun doesn't it!
And some more fun!
Even the coaches get in on the fun!
Our coach, Dave Rose, played for Houston back in the day.
Dave Rose played for Houston when Guy Lewis was the coach. Remember the Phi Slama Jama and Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. They were runners up in the 83 NCAA. This was before Akeem dropped the H on his first name.
Here is a picture of Dave Rose this year. Did you know he is from Houston? Did anyone know him then. He went on a mission to Manchester, England in 77-79.
Here is a younger picture.Dave Rose
Noah is loving it! He got 13.

Kyle is NOT afraid of this monster. He got the bucket.

Its always a cool thing when BYU wins, not because I'm a BYU fan but because all the commentators predict a loss. Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports and NBC both gave a hard thumbs down today. CBS and Google Sports gave us a shot.

We play Florida in New Orleans next Thursday. Go Cougs!
